In the case of a multi-kilometer long bridge, visual inspections exposed cracks. The actual effect of cracks on the stiffness was unknown and significantly affected the engineering estimate of the remaining useful life. We permanently installed our cost-efficient sensors on key segments of the bridge. Our software continuously tracks the stiffness degradation, the amplification factors and traffic loads. This enables the reliable estimate of the remaining useful life of the bridge and provide real-time assessment of its structural condition.
